Last week, we presented our paper "Persuading to Prepare for Quitting Smoking with a Virtual Coach: Using States and User Characteristics to Predict Behavior" at AAMAS in London. Based on data from a study in which 671 daily smokers interacted with a text-based virtual coach in up to five sessions, we analyzed the effects of using user states (e.g., confidence, knowledge, motivation) and characteristics (e.g., gender, age, personality) to predict behavior after persuasive attempts.
